University of Dunaújváros Hosts International Days 2026: A Focus on Artificial Intelligence and Academic Collaboration
The University of Dunaújváros recently welcomed international guests for its annual International Days event, held from March 23-25, 2026. This year’s event centered on Artificial Intelligence (AI), bringing together participants from seven countries to strengthen the university’s global network and foster professional collaborations.
A Celebration of International Academic Exchange
The three-day event kicked off with an opening ceremony featuring welcoming remarks from the university’s rector, vice rector, and the general director of the board of trustees. A key objective of the International Days is to build relationships and establish new collaborations, and participating institutions were given the opportunity to introduce themselves, sharing details about their educational programs, research profiles, and future plans.
Following the opening ceremony, guests enjoyed a campus tour and hands-on laboratory experiments. This provided valuable insight into daily university life and allowed visitors to explore fully equipped engineering, physics, and machining laboratories. Faculty members from the Institute of Technical Sciences made the visit particularly memorable with spectacular demonstrations, including physics experiments (levitating objects, liquid nitrogen experiments), CNC milling, and wire spark demonstrations.
Cultural Immersion and Academic Excellence
The first day concluded with a gala dinner at the historic Károlyi Palace in Fehérvárcsurgó. Countess Károlyi personally guided guests through the impressive building, sharing stories about the family and the cultural events held there. The evening was further enriched by cultural programs including harp and cello music, as well as a Hungarian folk dance performance, creating a truly special atmosphere.
The second day focused on academic presentations, with Hungarian and international experts sharing their latest research findings in the field of AI. Dr. Zoltán Szűcs, Dean of Esterházy Károly Catholic University, opened the plenary lectures with his presentation titled “You write sixteen pages, what do you get?” This was followed by Zsolt Krutilla, a lecturer at the University of Dunaújváros, who presented “AI-based NLP Methods for Automated Banking Complaint Classification.” The program concluded with Dr. Francisco Arcas Túnez, a researcher at the Catholic University of Murcia, discussing “The agentic era. Maturing from Chatbots to Autonomous AI Infrastructure.”
Participants also had the opportunity to experience Hungarian culture firsthand with a dinner and wine tasting at the Fritz Winery in Szekszárd, where they learned about the traditions and flavors of Hungarian wine culture.
Exploring Hungary’s Natural Beauty
The final day featured an excursion to the Lake Balaton Region. Guests enjoyed panoramic views from Szigliget Historic ruins, sampled traditional Hungarian dishes including goulash soup and fish soup in Vonyarcvashegy, and explored the landmarks and shores of Lake Balaton in Keszthely.
