Discovering Hungary Beyond the Classroom
At the University of Dunaújváros, education goes far beyond lectures and textbooks. On March 27, 2026, we organized an enriching cultural excursion for 50 international students to explore two of Hungary’s most captivating destinations: the historic city of Győr and the magnificent Pannonhalma Archabbey.
Exploring the Baroque Beauty of Győr
Our journey began in Győr, a city where centuries of history blend seamlessly with vibrant modern life. Students wandered through the charming baroque city center, admiring the ornate architecture and soaking in the unique atmosphere that makes Győr one of Hungary’s most picturesque cities. The cobblestone streets and colorful buildings provided countless photo opportunities and moments of wonder.
A Spiritual and Historical Journey to Pannonhalma
The highlight of our trip was undoubtedly the visit to Pannonhalma Archabbey, one of Hungary’s oldest and most significant historical landmarks. Perched majestically on a hill overlooking the western Hungarian countryside, the Abbey offers breathtaking panoramic views of rolling vineyards and lush forests that stretch as far as the eye can see.
Students were particularly impressed by the Abbey’s magnificent basilica, with its soaring ceilings and intricate architectural details. The visit to the remarkable library was another unforgettable experience, where students marveled at the invaluable collection of historic manuscripts and books that have been preserved for centuries.
