Program Description

Plant Protection program is designed to train specialists in plant protection capable of preventing crop losses during production

Overview

Plant Protection program is designed to train specialists in plant protection capable of preventing crop losses during production. Such qualities are able to identify harmful organisms, such as pathogens, pests and weeds. They must know the biology and reproduction of each organism, and also the effects and mechanisms of pesticides that affect the environment and human health.They apply procedures of ecological and integrated plant protection to prevent harms and damages caused by different pests or environmental effects.The faculty of agriculture has a special concern for food safety, environmental protection and public health. We are glad to train students who will go on to do research in these important areas.

Syllabus
  1. Theory of Measurement and Experimental Designs, Expectations of Foodstuffs, Consumer Protection, Separation Technique, Quality and Safety in Food Technologies (HACCP in practice), Food Marketing, Basics of Food Microbiology, Management and Communication, Spectroscopic Methods, Nutritional Sciences, Essential Molecular Cell Biology, Microbiological Aspects of Food Quality and Safety, Quality Control, Quality Management.
  2. Regulation of Food Production, Quality and Safety, Food Toxicology, Hyphenated Analytical Methods, Quality Management Systems and Audit in the Food Chain, Traceability in the Food Chain, Food Industry Management and Economics, Radiology in the Food Industry, Analytical and Microbiological Rapid Methods, Food Quality and Safety Risk Analysis, Rheology in Food Testing, Thesis.

  • Bachelor’s degree in food engineering, chemical engineering, biological science, agronomy.
  • English language proficiency (IELTS 6) OR equivalent OR University of Debrecen oral examination.
