Overview

The doctoral school provides a high quality, state-of-the-art-education on molecular biology, cell biology and immune biology. The scientific research performed by students and staff is supported by modern infrastructure made available to talented young scientists worldwide. Each year, talented doctoral candidates and doctor of science students join one of the approximately 50 research programs at the doctoral school. The environment for postgraduate education, research and development as well as expert training is suitable to all categories of international students. The Department of Immunology, Genetics and Microbiology of the University of Debrecen is a unique academic and research institute which is widely recognized as a leader in the following fields: innate immunity, xenobiotic metabolism and xenobiotic detoxication, adipose tissue biology, especially obesity related disorders, immunology including knockout mouse models in autoimmunity and allergy. Progress in a research program is assisted by a thesis committee assigned to each PhD student. Teachers of the school give altogether about 30 PhD courses every year, almost all of them are in English. Research groups working in the school have outstanding grant supports and excellent infrastructure.
