Overview

The University of Debrecen offers a unique program to acquire two Ph.D. degrees simultaneously in two disciplines in Humanities, the Ethnology Program - Anthropology and History Programme, besides a number of other available fields.
Courses take place in the historical part of the city. The University is a great place to work and live. Debrecen is called the cultural capital of Hungary and it has excellent conditions for opening a new era in studying. The renowned department of Anthropology and Ethnology of the University of Debrecen is ranked among the leading European centres in this field. The offered programmes, courses and research opportunities in cultural ecology and anthropology aim to address the issue of nationalities and diversity, as well as human rights and globalisation studies.
The Doctoral School of History and Ethnology is open to the applicants with any kind of master degree as long as they can prove their research interest. It means that we do not just accept History (MA) and Ethnology (MA) degrees, but we also accept any masters degrees related to the dissertation topic. In addition to this, the applicant may ask for one of the faculties of the University to be an external supervisor.
