Overview

Graduates of the Medical Diagnostic Analysis BSc with Optometry Specialization program use their knowledge of optics to conduct examinations and prescribe optical aids to patients. Their goal is to help patients achieve optimal visual acuity. They examine the refractive medium, refractive ability, and errors of refraction. The professionals use a slit lamp to examine binocular vision, the chamber of the eye, the crystalline lens, vitreous humor, and the eye fundus. They also estimate ocular tension.

Syllabus

• The first year of an optometry degree program is focused on basic health sciences courses like anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology, public health, and epidemiology.
• In the second and third years, students take more specific optometry courses, as well as clinical practices.
• The fourth year is devoted to field practices and thesis work.
• Successful completion of the final exams and defense of the thesis leads to a BSc degree in optometry.
