Corvinus University of Budapest: Tuition‑Free Study and 9 New One‑Year Master’s Programs in Hungary

Corvinus University of Budapest: Tuition‑Free Study and 9 New One‑Year Master’s Programs in Hungary

Corvinus University of Budapest has announced a significant update to its tuition‑free scholarship scheme and the launch of nine new one‑year Master’s programmes. The changes, effective from the 2026/27 academic year, aim to make higher education more predictable and accessible for students across Hungary.

How the New Scholarship System Works

The Corvinus Scholarship, administered by the Maecenas Universitatis Corvini Foundation, will now guarantee that at least the same number of first‑year students receive tuition‑free study as in the previous cycle. In practice, this means that four out of five first‑year applicants can expect to study without tuition fees, provided they meet the following criteria by the end of their first year:

  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.8.
  • Earn at least 54 credits out of the 60‑credit annual plan.

Unlike the previous system, there will be no ranking or re‑allocation of scholarships based on peer performance. Students who meet the thresholds automatically retain their scholarship. For Bachelor’s programmes, re‑evaluation occurs only after the second year; for Master’s programmes, the scholarship is secured for the full duration of the course if the student completes it on time.

Implications for Self‑Funded Students

Students who begin their studies as self‑funded have a clear pathway to transition into scholarship status. If they achieve the required GPA and credit count by the end of the first year, the faculty dean will open a call for applications to fill the freed scholarship places. This creates a tangible incentive for high‑performing students to aim for tuition‑free study.

Applying for Tuition‑Free Study via felvi.hu

Prospective students can apply through the national application portal felvi.hu. When selecting Corvinus University of Budapest, choose the code “ANA” to indicate a tuition‑free full‑time programme. The same code applies to both Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes that offer tuition‑free places.
