Building a Sustainable Future Through Student Collaboration
At Corvinus University of Budapest, a new wave of student-driven sustainability initiatives is taking shape through the Corvinus Changemakers Network. Launched in September 2025 with support from the Sustainability Dean’s Office, this innovative network brings together 11 student organizations and colleges for advanced studies committed to creating positive environmental and social impact.
A Platform for Collective Action
The Changemakers network was established to address a critical need: ensuring that sustainability efforts across the university are coordinated rather than fragmented. By creating a shared platform for active student communities, the network enables organizations to amplify their impact through collaboration rather than working in isolation.
Current members include ABOVE, Crescendo, Corvinus Egymásért, Corvinus ECC, EVK, FAKT, Gyakorlati Diplomácia Szakkollégiuma, Heller, HÖK, Pacioli Finance Club, and Studium Generale. The network remains open to any student organization or college for advanced studies interested in sustainability, whether they’re already active in this space or looking to strengthen their sustainability activities.
From Planning to Action: Early Achievements
During the autumn semester, Changemakers focused on strategic planning and identifying areas where collaboration could yield the greatest impact. This planning phase led to several concrete outcomes, including the organization of a charity clothes swap event scheduled for April 29, 2026, building on the success of last year’s initiative.
The network has identified two primary focus areas for joint projects: engaging students more effectively through sustainability-related programs and initiatives, and contributing to the university’s long-term sustainability goals through collaborative action.
Supporting Student Innovation
Through workshops and collaborative sessions, students have had the opportunity to provide input on how the university’s Sustainability Dean’s Office can better support their initiatives. This includes discussions about promotion, mentoring, and potential financial support for sustainability projects.
The network demonstrates the power of collective action, showing how student organizations can achieve more together than they could individually. By sharing resources, knowledge, and networks, Changemakers members are creating a multiplier effect for their sustainability efforts.
