Study Pharmacy at University of Szeged

The Pharmacy program at the University of Szeged is designed to provide a comprehensive foundation in the basic sciences, setting the stage for advanced pharmaceutical studies. The curriculum is structured in two main phases: the initial stage covers essential scientific principles, while the latter part emphasizes specialized pharmaceutical education, integrating experiences in university departments, teaching pharmacies, clinical settings, and laboratories.

Key areas of study include biology, chemistry, physics, and medicine, alongside specialized pharmacy subjects. This multifaceted approach equips students with vital skills in technical knowledge, manual dexterity, effective communication, and computer proficiency. With a strong emphasis on intellectual growth and practical competence, the program aims to cultivate well-rounded professionals prepared for the modern challenges in pharmacy.

The training material remains current, reflecting the latest advancements in pharmaceutical research. Participation in international research initiatives further enhances the educational experience, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for diverse career paths in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries.

This undivided Master's program culminates in the award of the title Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), after the successful completion of a comprehensive 10-semester course, yielding 300 credits, and is registered in the EU.

Required Documents

Academic Program Admission Requirements

  • Applicants must have completed secondary education or a higher qualification.
  • All applicants must be at least 18 years old by December 31 of the year of application. There is no upper age limit.
  • Admissions are open to graduates of accredited high schools or higher education institutions.
  • Students who did not pass Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, or English during their final year of high school are ineligible to apply. However, those currently in their final year can apply and take the entrance examination, provided they present proof of enrollment.

Entrance Examination

  • It is mandatory for all applicants to sit for an entrance examination.
  • Applicants are permitted to take the entrance examination twice within the same application period if the Faculty allows.

Exemptions from Entrance Examination

Certain qualifications can exempt applicants from the entrance examination:

  • GCE A2 Levels: Requires a grade A in three natural science subjects (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics) and in English. Predicted grades may be used for conditional acceptance. Note: GCE AS/O level grades do not satisfy university entry requirements.
  • IB Diploma: Requires grade 4 in two natural science subjects and in English. Predicted grades in the final year may be used for conditional acceptance. IB Certificates do not qualify for exemptions.
  • BSc Degree: A First Class Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, or Physics, provided the studies were conducted in English.

Language Requirements

  • Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency, which will be assessed during the entrance examination.

Documentation Requirements

  • One or more references must be submitted as part of the application.
  • A personalized motivation letter must accompany each application, and separate letters are required for multiple programs of interest.
  • Entry qualification documents must initially be provided in English. If these documents are not available in English, official translations along with verified copies of the originals must be submitted.
  • Applicants are required to send verified copies of their qualification documents directly to the university by postal mail, only after receiving acceptance notification.
