Program Description

Study International Relations at University of Szeged

The International Relations program at the University of Szeged is distinctive as it combines an interdisciplinary approach with a focus on Business Economics and International Relations, alongside Political Science, European Studies, and Law. This curriculum is designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of both legal studies and social sciences, enabling them to analyze global and regional issues within an international framework.

Required Documents

Admission Requirements

  • Applicants must hold a Bachelor's Degree (or higher).
  • A background in International Relations, Political Science, Law, or European Law/Studies is advantageous.

Application Process

To apply, candidates must complete an online application form and submit the following documents:

  • Official Bachelor's Degree (or higher)
  • Proof of English proficiency (IELTS: 6.5; TOEFL: 79-93; CEFR: B1-C2) or a degree from a program entirely conducted in English for exemption.
  • Motivation letter tailored for the specific program.
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  • Academic records, in English or with certified translations.

International students from non-EU countries must also provide:

  • A research proposal outlining academic interests and plans related to the program.
  • Two letters of reference. The system will contact referees to submit references directly, or they can be uploaded with the application.

Documentation Notes

All original entry qualification documents should be presented upon arrival at the university. If transcripts are not available in English, official translations along with verified copies of the originals will be needed.

Language Proficiency

Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English through one of the following:

  • IELTS: Minimum score of 6.5.
  • TOEFL: Minimum score of 79-93.
  • CEFR: Levels B1-C2.
  • A Bachelor's degree fully taught in English may exempt the applicant from language testing requirements.

Additional Requirements for Non-EU Applicants

Non-EU applicants must include the following with their application:

  • Bachelor's degree documentation
  • Academic transcript
  • Motivation letter
  • Research proposal
  • Two letters of reference

Research Proposal Guidelines

The research proposal must outline the candidate's academic interests, including:

  • Research questions
  • Proposed methodologies
  • A brief literature review

The proposal should not exceed five pages and does not need to align with the final thesis topic. Previous work, such as a Bachelor's thesis, will not be accepted as a proposal.
