The Hungarian Studies MA program provides an in-depth exploration of multiple facets of Hungarian culture, encompassing history, film, visual arts, folklore, music, cultural geography, and literature. This program not only offers a comprehensive understanding of these subjects but also focuses on equipping students to effectively represent Hungarian culture in various intercultural settings.
Students can choose from two distinct specializations. The first specialization centers on Hungarian as a foreign language, where learners develop essential methodological and linguistic skills for teaching Hungarian, supported by practical experience under the guidance of experienced mentors. The second specialization is in Hungarian History, designed to impart extensive knowledge in this field.
Key research areas within the program include Hungarian history, literature, and film history, as well as public memory in Hungary, teaching Hungarian as a foreign language, Hungarian linguistics, and the comparative analysis of Hungary's folklore and music alongside that of another culture.
Applicants should possess an undergraduate degree (Bachelor's or higher) in one of the following fields:
Applicants whose Bachelor's degree is not in Hungarian Language and Literature or History, but is in one of the specified fields, are required to have an additional 12 credits in Hungarian History, Hungarian Literature, or Linguistics.
