The Doctoral School of Linguistics at the University of Szeged is dedicated to providing an in-depth exploration of both the theoretical and practical dimensions of linguistics. The program covers a wide array of fundamental linguistic subfields, including phonology, syntax, semantics, and sociolinguistics, alongside applied language sciences. Emphasis is placed on effective research methodologies, the crafting of scholarly papers, and the development of a PhD dissertation.

The program is designed for individuals interested in the theoretical, historical, typological, and applied aspects of languages. Preference will be given to applicants with a Master's degree in Hungarian language and literature, Foreign languages, or Theoretical/Applied Linguistics.
All entry qualification documents must be submitted in English or accompanied by certified translations in English.
It is advisable to secure an appropriate transcript from your previous institution; if unavailable, official translations along with verified copies of original documents are required.
Proficiency in Italian (C1 level) and English (B2 level) is essential, as the program is conducted in both languages.
Make sure to include your transcript, proof of language proficiency, CV, motivation letter, and list of academic publications in your application package. Interviews will be conducted online or in-person in Szeged.
