The Doctoral School of Linguistics at the University of Szeged offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with essential theoretical and methodological skills for advanced linguistic research. The program covers a wide range of linguistic subfields, including phonology, syntax, semantics, sociolinguistics, and applied linguistics, particularly in the context of language teaching.
Students engage in rigorous coursework that emphasizes the exploration of theoretical issues and contemporary research directions within linguistics. The curriculum is structured to cultivate critical thinking and analytical skills, enabling students to effectively process and evaluate information. This program is ideal for candidates who are engaged with theoretical, historical, typological, and applied linguistic issues. Applicants with a master's degree in Hungarian Language and Literature, Foreign Languages, or Theoretical/Applied Linguistics are particularly encouraged to apply.
Applicants must provide at least two reference letters. Referees' contact details should be included, their references can be submitted electronically, or the letters may be uploaded along with the application documents.
All applicants will undergo an interview, which can take place online or in person in Szeged.
