Study Doctoral School of Environmental Sciences at University of Szeged

The Doctoral School of Environmental Sciences emphasizes a comprehensive approach to understanding and addressing environmental challenges through a multidisciplinary framework. The program engages with critical topics in chemistry, biology, physics, and geography to foster a well-rounded academic experience.

Students enrolled in this doctoral program are required to select at least one foundational course outside their specific research interests, alongside a minimum of four courses pertinent to their research focus. This structure is designed to enhance critical competencies in environmental sciences while providing specialized knowledge relevant to individual research agendas.

Admission Requirements for the Doctoral Programme

  • Entry Qualification:
    • Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in a relevant field and demonstrate interest in specific research programs. To learn more, contact Studygram.
    • Official documents must be submitted, preferably in English. If not available in English, official translations alongside verified copies of the originals are necessary.
    • Original entry qualification documents must be presented upon enrollment.
  • Language Requirements:
    • Proficiency in English is required. Acceptable qualifications include:
      • TELC/ECL B2
      • TOEFL iBT score of 72
      • RPDT score of 72
      • Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE)
      • IELTS score of 5.5
      • LanguageCert B2 level
    • Students from specific countries may not need to provide English language exam certificates if they can prove that their prior studies were conducted in English. To know more about eligible countries, contact Studygram.
    • If the Master’s program was delivered in English, the diploma can serve as proof of language proficiency, provided that a document from the university certifying the medium of instruction is submitted by the application deadline. Failure to provide this document on time will result in rejection of the application.
    • For international students whose diplomas are outside the European Union, acknowledgment by the Hungarian Equivalence and Information Center (HEIC) is required before submitting the dissertation. This process is the responsibility of the student.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Applicants must provide at least two references.
    • Complete an online application form.
    • Submit a CV in English, 2-3 pages in length, detailing academic and research experience.
    • Prepare a research proposal for review.
    • Participate in an individual interview, either in person or online, to discuss motivation and the proposed research.
    • Provide a recent medical certificate confirming general health status, issued no more than one month prior to application.
