Study Doctoral School of Clinical Medicine at University of Szeged

The Doctoral School of Clinical Medicine at the University of Szeged encompasses a comprehensive range of research areas within the field of medicine. Specializations include Immunology, Dermatology, Reproductive Health, Clinical and Experimental Neuroscience, and the Investigation of Cardiovascular Systems. Additional focus areas are dedicated to Clinical and Experimental Research for Reconstructive and Organ-Sparing Surgery, along with studies on Vascular Diseases in Pediatric Populations.

Key research topics involve the mechanisms underlying transplantation tolerance, keratinocyte cell cycle regulation, and approaches to prevent premature labor. There's also emphasis on cognitive and neurobiological dimensions of psychiatry, as well as innovative imaging and device therapies for heart disease management. The role of macrophages in shock conditions and molecular genetic studies related to various renal diseases are integral to ongoing investigations. PhD Program Admission Requirements

  • Entry Qualification: Applicants must hold a graduate or master's degree (or a higher qualification) in pharmacy, medicine, or related fields. Acceptable degrees include, but are not limited to:
    • Master of Arts (MA)
    • Medical Doctor (MD)
    • Master of Pharmacy (MPharm)
    • Master of Science (MSc)
  • Applicants must be either in the final year of their master's program or hold full-time status in a master's course recognized by the doctoral school, which includes disciplines like medical biotechnology, psychology, biology, molecular biology, and info-bionics engineering.
  • Research Proposal: It is mandatory for prospective candidates to choose a specific research topic and initiate contact with the supervisor in the Doctoral School of Clinical Medicine prior to submitting an application. This requires the submission of a signed agreement letter from both the chosen supervisor and the head of the doctoral school.
  • Scientific Experience: Candidates should ideally have prior research experience in relevant scientific fields.
  • Interview Requirement: An individual online interview may be part of the admission process.

Document Requirements

  • Academic Records: Applicants must submit an official English version or certified translation of their complete master's transcript along with a copy of their degree, including a grading system explanation.
  • All documentation must be in English, or accompanied by verified translations of the original documents.
  • Original entry qualification documents should be presented upon arrival at the university.

Language Proficiency

  • Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency at an intermediate level, proven through recognized examinations. Acceptable certificates include:

    • ECL B2
    • TOEFL iBT score of at least 72 or PBT score of at least 550
    • Cambridge First Certificate with a minimum grade of 'B'
    • IELTS score of at least 5.5

References and Additional Requirements

  • Applicants are required to provide at least two references.

Additional Requirements for Non-EU Applicants

  • Must submit official English versions or translations of their full bachelor's transcript and degree, including an explanation of the grading system. Prior research experience is also expected.
  • Similar to other applicants, non-EU candidates must select a research topic and secure an agreement with a supervisor before applying.
