Study Doctoral School in Economics at University of Szeged
The Doctoral School in Economics focuses on preparing candidates for advanced scientific research while training skilled professionals capable of addressing complex economic issues. This program responds to both theoretical and practical challenges that arise from the dynamic operation of modern economies.
Students engage with significant socio-economic problems and develop solutions informed by multidisciplinary knowledge. The curriculum equips participants with comprehensive theoretical and methodological skills necessary for analyzing contemporary economic systems and their challenges.
Throughout their studies, participants will draw from economics and related fields, enriching their understanding and approach to pressing socio-economic issues. After the initial year, students may choose to specialize in one of two areas: Economic Policy and Globalization or Ecological Economics.

Admission Requirements
To qualify for admission, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A Master’s degree (or higher) in economics or business studies is required. Note that an MBA diploma does not meet this requirement.
- Research Proposal: Applicants must submit a research proposal that indicates which research topic offered by the Doctoral School aligns with their interests.
- Online Interview: An individual interview will be conducted online as part of the admission process.
- Documentation Language: All entry qualification documents must be provided in English. If original documents are not in English, certified translations and verified copies must be submitted.
- Original Documents: Applicants are required to bring their original entry qualification documents when attending the university.
Language Requirements
Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English, with an acceptable level being at least B2 (intermediate). This may be verified through recognized certificates such as:
- IELTS: Minimum score of 6.0
- TOEFL: Minimum score of 95
Additional Requirements
