Program Description
Study Dental Medicine at University of Szeged
This program integrates both basic and clinical sciences, emphasizing the concurrent development of scientific knowledge and professional skills throughout the curriculum. In the initial two years, students focus on foundational subjects in medicine and dentistry while gaining early patient interaction through summer practice opportunities. The third year transitions students into the preclinical phase, where the emphasis is placed on refining manual skills necessary for patient care.
The final two years of the program center on comprehensive clinical training across various dental disciplines. During this intensive clinical module, students engage in hands-on treatment of real patients under the close supervision of experienced faculty. Additionally, the final year includes participation in elective programs, clinical conferences, and hospital-based training, enriching the practical understanding of dental practices.
The Faculty of Dentistry serves as the regional hub for dental care in South-eastern Hungary, preparing graduates for global opportunities, including eligibility for hospital residency positions worldwide. EU citizens benefit from automatic licensing within the Community upon graduation.

Admission Requirements
- High school or secondary education is required; higher qualifications are also accepted.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old by December 31 of the application year. There is no upper age limit for applicants.
- Eligible candidates include graduates from accredited high schools or universities. However, those who have failed any subjects in their final year of high school are not eligible to apply.
- Final-year students who have not yet received their School Leaving Certificate or Diploma can still apply, provided they submit proof of current enrollment in high school.
- All applicants are required to take an entrance examination. Candidates may enter up to two examinations during a single application round, if permitted by the Faculty.
Exemptions from Entrance Examination
Candidates holding any of the following qualifications may be exempt from the entrance examination:
- GCE A2 Levels: Must achieve grade A in three subjects from Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics, as well as in English. Predicted A2 level grades are accepted for conditional admission. GCE AS/O level grades are not eligible.
- IB Diploma: Requires a minimum grade of 5 in two natural science subjects (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics) and in English. Predicted final year grades can qualify for conditional admission. IB Certificates will not grant exemption.
- BSc Degree: Applicants must possess a First Class Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Natural, Biomedical, Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, or Physics, or a First Class Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene, with studies conducted in English.
Documentation Requirements
The entry qualification documents must be provided in English. Verified copies of these documents should be sent directly to the university by postal mail only after acceptance. If transcripts are not readily available, official translations along with verified copies of the originals will be necessary.
Language Requirements
English language proficiency will be assessed through the entrance examination.

- At least one reference letter must be included in the application.
- A motivation letter is required and should be tailored for each program applied to.
