Program Description
The study program offers a complete education in geography, with optional specializations in Landscape and Environmental Studies, Regional and Settlement Development, and also Tourism. All three specializations are supported by a strong GIS basis.
Overview
The program provides general bachelor level education in geography. It includes foundation modules providing an introduction to natural and social sciences, geology and geography. The core program is based on fundamental issues of including topics in Physical, Human and Regional geography.
Syllabus
- 1st semester: Introduction to Human Geography, Historical Geography, Geographical Fundamentals of Environmental Protection, Planetology.
- 2nd semester: Meteorology and Climatology, Geomorphology, Population and Settlement Geography, Economic Geography.
- 3rd semester: Pedology and Hydro-geography, Biogeography, Political Geography, Physical Geography of Hungary.
- 4th semester: Physical Geography of Europe, Human Geography of Europe, Regional Policies, Theoretical Basics of Tourism.
- 5th semester: Regional Human Geography of the Continents, Urban Development and Planning, Regional Geography of Tourism, Environmental Issues in Water Management.
- 6th semester: Rural Development, Tourism Marketing, Environmental Impact Assessment, Landscape Ecology, Specializations, Regional and Urban Development, Tourism Geography, Environmental Geography.
Required Documents
- Certified and translated (if originals are not in English) copy of school transcripts showing satisfactory completion of senior high school.
- Europass CV in English
- Motivation letter (introduction plus field of interest, etc.) in 3000 to 3500 characters.
- Copy of valid passport or national ID
- Medical certificate, vaccination card (showing that you are immunized against HEP B) and HIV test
- The payment receipt of the application fee
- Official copy of the language exam certificate
- Language skills: B2 level is a minimum requirement, which is equivalent to an intermediate command of English. (e.g.ELTS minimum 5.5; or TOEFL minimum 66 score).
