Program Description
The program provides general bachelor-level education in earth sciences and also offers the possibility to specialize in Geology.
Overview
The program includes introductory modules in Nature Sciences, Geology, and also Geography. The core of the program is based on the fundamental issues of earth sciences and includes topics in Astronomy, Cartography, Geomorphology, Geophysics, Geochemistry, Hydrology, Meteorology, Palaeontology, Paleoclimatology, Remote Sensing, Stratigraphy, etc.
Syllabus
- 1st semester: Biogeography, Meteorology, Astronomical Geography, Cartography, and Remote Sensing.
- 2nd semester: Climatology, Mathematical Methods in the Earth Sciences, Geomorphology, Historical Geology, and Paleontology.
- 3rd semester: Environmental Audit and Quality Assurance, Paleoclimatology, Digital Mapping, Systematic Mineralogy.
- 4th semester: Soil and Rock Physics, Petrographic Microscopy, Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology, Structural Geology.
- 5th semester: Environmental Geology Basics, Geology of Energy Resources, Geochemistry, Sedimentary Geology.
- 6th semester: Geology of Hungary, Engineering Geology, Geoparks, Geotourism, Economic Geology.
Required Documents
- Certified and translated (if originals are not in English) copies of school transcripts showing satisfactory completion of senior high school.
- Europass CV in English
- Motivation letter (introduction plus field of interest, etc.) in 3000 to 3500 characters.
- Copy of valid passport or national ID
- A medical certificate, vaccination card (showing that you are immunized against HEP B), and HIV test
- The payment receipt of the application fee
- Official copy of the language exam certificate
- Language skills: B2 level is a minimum requirement, which is equivalent to an intermediate command of English. (e.g.ELTS minimum 5.5; or TOEFL minimum 66 scores).
