Archeology MA

The aim of the curriculum is to train professionals who are able to practice the profession of an archaeologist with their general knowledge of archaeology and their knowledge of the chosen discipline and their auxiliary sciences.

Overview

When you graduate with your Master's in Archaeology you will be suitable for the exploration, excavation, and processing of archaeological sources and sites, as well as for the management of such museum collections. You may be also familiar with other areas of cultural heritage in order to carry out the basic tasks in all institutions responsible for the exploration, protection, processing, and presentation of cultural heritage.

Syllabus

• 1st semester: Museology, Great Empires and so-called Barbarians, Communication Networks, Research seminar.
• 2nd semester: Fieldwork, data procession, survey and excavation practice, Classical Archaeology (art and religious iconography), Thesis consultation.
• 3rd semester: Archaeological Heritage Protection, Fieldwork, data procession, survey and excavation practice, Settlement- and Social History, and Burial Customs.
• 4th semester: Illegal art crime, Optional subject, Archaeoinformatics.
