Physics Ph.D

The Doctoral School of Physics at Eotvos Lorand University is a research-oriented doctoral program that allows students to explore and specialize in the fields of materials science and solid state physics, particle physics and astronomy, or statistical physics, biological physics and quantum systems. The program offers an intensive three-year curriculum with 8 courses that cover topics such as quantum mechanics, thermodynamics and statistical mechanics, advanced material science, astrophysics, and biophysics. Students will gain hands-on experience through laboratory work and can complete their research under the guidance of a supervisor. After completing the program requirements, students must defend their degree in order to receive their doctorate. With close collaboration with leading research institutes of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and access to cutting-edge technologies, this program provides students with excellent career prospects in academia or industry.
