Electrical Engineering, MSc – University of Debrecen

The Master of Science (MSc) in Electrical Engineering offered by the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Debrecen is designed to equip students with advanced knowledge and practical skills in electrical, electronic, and computer systems. Launching in September 2025, this 4-semester program provides a comprehensive curriculum that focuses on designing, developing, and integrating cutting-edge technologies and systems. Graduates will be prepared to excel in both industrial and research environments, contributing to innovation and technological advancement. With a strong emphasis on hands-on learning, the program combines theoretical foundations with real-world applications, preparing students for diverse career opportunities in various industries. Students will also have the option to pursue further studies at the doctoral level if they wish to specialize further in their chosen field.

Entry Requirements

To qualify for admission to the MSc in Electrical Engineering program at the University of Debrecen, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Applicants must hold a recognized Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field such as Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (with a focus on electrical systems), or other relevant disciplines.

 Language Proficiency

As the program is taught entirely in English, all applicants must demonstrate proficiency in the English language through one of the following methods:

  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): A minimum score of 547.
  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System): A minimum overall band score of 6.0.
  • Oral Examination: Applicants may undergo an oral examination conducted by the university to assess their English communication skills.
Note: Applicants from countries where English is the official language of instruction may be exempted from submitting TOEFL/IELTS scores. However, this exemption is subject to verification by the admissions committee.

Application Fees

The application process involves the following fees:

  • Application Fee: $150 (non-refundable).
  • Entrance Procedure Fee: $350 (non-refundable).

 Additional Supporting Documents

In addition to meeting the above requirements, applicants must submit the following documents as part of their application:

  • Official Transcripts: Certified copies of all academic records from previous institutions.
  • Diploma/Certificate: A copy of your Bachelor’s degree certificate.
  • CV/Resume: Highlighting your educational background, work experience, and any relevant projects or research activities.
  • Statement of Purpose: A brief essay explaining your motivation for applying to the program, your career goals, and how this degree aligns with your aspirations.
  • Letters of Recommendation: Two letters from professors, supervisors, or professionals who can attest to your academic abilities and potential for success in graduate studies.
  • Passport Copy: A valid passport or identification document for verification purposes.
