
On Tuesday, the Faculty of Engineering hosted a vibrant cultural event that spotlighted the university’s diverse international community. Nearly 80 foreign students from across the globe presented music, dance, and cultural exhibits, showcasing traditions from Mexico, India, Egypt, Kenya, and many other countries. The event, organized to foster inclusion during the Drawing Week when lectures pause, aimed to give students a platform to share their heritage and feel at home in Hungary.

Event Format and Participation
The ceremony opened with the 4‑member Szatmár Banda, headed by Dean Géza Husi who played the clarinet on stage. Faculty members and international students could meet stalls that displayed traditional folk costumes, local foods, and photographic presentations of their homelands. Over 2,500 Hungarian students and 820 foreign students currently study at the faculty, making the event an opportunity to bridge cultural gaps.

- Mexico: Ana Cristina Marcial Pimentel showcased energetic Mexican dances, bringing color and rhythm to the stage.
- India: Hena Ramchandani performed expressive Indian dances that communicated stories without words.
- Egypt: Abdelrahman Islam Azmi Thabet delivered a thought‑provoking talk on culture, identity, and cross‑national understanding.
- Kenya: Catherine Mbinya Mula captivated the audience with soulful singing, reflecting Kenyan musical traditions.
- Hungary: Two dancers from the Szatmár Banda concluded the evening with an engaging performance.
Several participants wore authentic folk garments, served regional foods, and shared artifacts to deepen the audience’s appreciation of global cultures.
